Gaumard’s history is about innovation and people. As we approach our 67th year and begin our new blog, we would like to honor some of the special people who play such important roles in Gaumard’s success.

The spotlight this month is on Estela Mesa.  As you read her story, you will understand why we are so very proud of having Estela as an employee and as a valuable member of Gaumard’s team.

Estela has worked for Gaumard Scientific for over thirty years and her courageous story is one that gives us great pride and inspiration. Estela arrived in the United States in 1973 after battling with the Cuban government in order to obtain a permit so that she could emigrate.

She traveled via Spain and finally arrived in Miami, Florida, pregnant with her third child.  The child was born one month later and Estela began to work from home, sewing for a clothing factory. Later, she also worked nights when her husband arrived home to take care of their children. Estela worked hard because she needed to help her husband take care of their children and the family’s financial needs.

Estela had some friends when she arrived from Cuba and she remembers that they helped her through the difficult times as she and her family began to start life all over again in the United States. Estela shares the love she has for her wonderful husband, three daughters and five grandchildren. She takes pride in the fact that her three daughters are teachers who work for the Dade County Public Schools system. Her oldest granddaughter will graduate this year from FIU. One of her grandsons is beginning medical school classes and one grandson is attending Miami-Dade College.

Estela and her husband own their own home and not surprisingly, it is located very close to Gaumard’s company property.

As I write Estela’s story, it is apparent that her own words must be shared with you because only her words will tell her real story.  “I remember that I started working for Gaumard on February 11, 1980. I remember like it was today. I am proud to say that I am a US citizen since 1979 and I am very grateful to this great nation that has given my family and me the opportunity to grow and have freedom.

This month is my 31st anniversary with Gaumard Scientific. I don’t have enough words to describe how much I appreciate the opportunity Gaumard has given me all these years to grow within the company…to assist in every way possible and as much as I can. And for letting me be a part of the Gaumard Family.”

Estela Mesa, Gaumard’s Spotlight is on you because we value all that you are and all that you do for Gaumard. Thank you.

This quote reminds me of Mrs. Mesa, it suits her well.

    From a loving admirer.
